A few weeks ago 7-year-old Chloe Bridgewater, from Hereford, UK, was inspired by her dad Andy to write a letter to Google and share her desire to work for the tech giant when she “is bigger”.
The letter came about after Chloe asked her dadif he had a dream job. He told her that Google would be his ideal place to work, and then went on to show her a few photos of the famous company campus. After learning she could sit in bean-bag chairs, ride go-karts, and go down slides, she knew it was the place for her. Andy encouraged her to “apply and get the ball rolling.”
Working at Google is just one of many of Chloe’s aspirations, as she outlines in her letter to “google boss.”
To Chloe and her dad’s surprise, she received a response back from the company, but not from the PR or HR department, but from Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google himself. In his letter, Pichai encouraged Chloe to follow her dreams, continue to work hard and be sure to send in her job application when she finishes school. To say the two were excited about receiving Pichai’s letter, would be an understatement.
After Andy posted Chloe and Pichai’s letters online, the dynamic duo received an overwhelming response, and have since been featured on news outlets around the world. Women You Should Know connected with Chloe and her dad, and they sent us the awesome video above, where Chloe reaffirms her desire to work at Google, and offers some good nuggets of advice to other kids about following their dreams.
As for her dad, he puts it all in perspective, “Chloe is now even more eager to do well at school and work for Google. Can’t thank such a busy person enough to take time out to make a little girl’s dream become one step closer, although not sure she’s fully aware that it’ll take more than riding go karts and sleeping in pods to make it with Google!”
