We are huge fans of Kimothy Joy, a talented Denver-based illustrator whose work includes portraits of past and present heroines that celebrate female empowerment. Her latest piece, a limited edition print designed in collaboration with the non-profit I Am That Girl, is called We Are The Leaders We’ve Been Waiting For and offers an inspiring illustration of the future.
Kimothy posted an image of the print on her IG yesterday with the following note…
“I look at the young people around me…I look into the eyes of my 13 year old niece…I look into the eyes of my friends and their newborn babies and I am moved. I know that the future is full of promise, hope, great change and possibility. To the young folx, young girls, to my peers, to the living and breathing and loving, a different kind of future is possible. WE are possible. We don’t have to look any further than inside ourselves and to one another for the answers. We can do things differently and interact with each other in a whole new way. Do you see what’s possible? Rise up and claim your crown. Our love is louder than hate.”
Available as a 11×14 fine art print, Kimothy’s We Are The Leaders We’ve Been Waiting For will begin shipping after August 23. Twenty-five percent of sales of the limited edition work will go directly to the operations and leadership development programming of I Am That Girl, a chapter-based 501c3 non-profit organization that provides leadership, social, and personal development programming to girls in high school and college throughout the US. Its mission is to cultivate self-worth, community engagement, and action “so together we can amplify the voices, stories, and potential of girls everywhere.”
