When girls across the country are educated, communities thrive and economies grow. Yet, due to a lack of funding, 65 million girls are missing from classrooms worldwide. Denver-based designer Heather Arellano, founder of the cause-apparel company R.O.S.E. Clothing, is setting out to change this with her new collection of school supply leggings.

Heather launched R.O.S.E. Clothing (Respect Others, Self, Environment) in 2014 with the purpose to inspire, educate and create positive change through the stories behind its apparel. She came up with the idea to create the school supply leggings collection after watching the documentary Girl Rising in Denver last year with her daughter.

“It touched us deeply and after seeing it I knew I would one day use my skills and creativity to impact the education of girls worldwide,” explained Heather.

R.O.S.E. Clothing will be donating 20% of proceeds from the sale of the leggings to She’s The First!, a non-profit that sponsors girls’ education in poverty stricken countries. Heather chose to donate the proceeds to She’s the First because she is the first in her family to earn a college degree, and she knows firsthand how education can change a life for the better, forever.

The leggings collection is both fun and quirky, featuring patterns inspired by school supplies including pencils, crayons, graph paper, scissors, apples and the classic, composition notebook.

“Fashion can be so much more then something you simply wear, it can make a statement, have a story, spread awareness, and make positive change happen,” the designer explains.

For the next 5 days, you can place a pre-order on the pencil and composition notebook leggings, with the other styles planned to launch at a later date.
