“Oven to 400. Let’s make something to eat.”
And so begins the loudest and most entertaining cooking segment we have ever witnessed. Behind the stove (and the mic) is Linzey Rae, the “scream like a girl” front-woman of The Anchor, a metalcore band based out of Denver, CO. She belts out her cooking instructions through her lyrics and in the end she makes one tasty looking Shepherd’s Pie. The best part… she did it all for a really good cause.
For those metalcore novices among us, Linzey’s recipe song is a parody of “The Great Unknown” by The Ghost Inside, an LA based metalcore band that was in a horrific tour bus accident this past November. While all 5 band members and their crew miraculously survived the mangled wreck, it landed nine people in the hospital with very severe injuries and tragically claimed the lives of two others, including the band’s tour bus driver and the driver of the other vehicle involved.
Stepping up to help their friends in need, Linzey and her The Anchor bandmates have made this song available for download at their Bandcamp page with all proceeds going to The Ghost Inside as they recover and deal with mounting medical bills and expenses.
So even if metalcore is not music to your ears, the spirit behind it should speak to your heart.
