It’s not usual that we would feature something from Playboy magazine, but this caught our attention. According to a recent AdWeek article, Playboy has “rebranded” their digital presence, focusing less on the smut and opting for more “safe-for-work” and “shareable” lifestyle content.
In line with their new mission, the brand has created this “Should You Catcall Her?” handy, dandy flowchart for readers on whether or not it’s okay to catcall a woman. Um, our answer is always NEVER, but Playboy has a bit of a different take on the matter.
We have to admit that when we first saw this our “oh no they didn’t” antenna went up, but… if you follow along you will see that it’s all a good thing.
According to Playboy, the only time it’s ok to “Yeah. Go for it,” is if both you and your partner have consensually agreed to shout sexually suggestive comments to each other in public, or if the creature in question is literally a loose feline. Yeah, ok, we can agree with that.
While we’re at it, we also agree with Playboy taking a creative spin on educating their readers on the very important topic of street harassment. Something we haven’t seen from any male-centric media outlet to date.
