Saint Hoax, “a pseudonymous Middle Eastern artist and sociopolitical activist,” released a series of images on Valentine’s Day that were intended to inspire women to be their own #1. Titled Save Yourself, they feature Disney Princesses doing just that. And there’s not a prince in sight, because they’ve all been replaced by the princesses themselves.
Here’s the artist statement that accompanies the images:
I have waited too long to be saved
Felt like a book left on a shelf
But why wait to be saved,
When I can simply save myself
Hoax told The Huffington Post that the series is “a celebration of the independent, self-sufficient kind of love. The kind of love that you don’t wait to receive from someone else.”
