25 years ago, on November 22, 1991, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast had its theatrical release and captivated audiences worldwide, becoming the first animated feature film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. On Sunday, during a 25th anniversary screening of the classic film at Lincoln Center in New York, Angela Lansbury, who voiced the character of Mrs. Potts, the castle cook turned teapot, made a surprise appearance to briefly reprise her 1991 role and sing the film’s title song, ‘Beauty and the Beast – Tale As Old As Time’. The legendary stage and screen actress, who turns 91 next month, brought the house down… and made us cry.

For a double dose of enchanting nostalgia, here’s Angela’s 1991 rendition of the title song, which her Mrs. Potts sings in the film’s most iconic scene.
