These are the empowering opening lyrics from Don’t Hush, Darling the new, hauntingly beautiful anti-lullaby from The Corner Laughers, a California band led by singer/ukulele player Karla Kane, with bassist Khoi Huynh, drummer Charlie Crabtree, and guitarist KC Bowman.
Released this week as a charity single, all proceeds from Don’t Hush, Darling will go to one of our favorite organizations, The Representation Project, founded by filmmaker, CEO, advocate, and thought leader Jennifer Siebel Newsom. Using film and media as catalysts for cultural transformation, The Representation Project inspires individuals and communities to challenge and overcome limiting stereotypes so that everyone, regardless of gender, race, class, age, sexual orientation, or circumstance, can fulfill their human potential.
