For National Space Day, filmmaker Eliza McNitt, in partnership with Google, released Dot of Light, the story of three female astronauts – Dr. Kathryn D. Sullivan, Nicole Stott, and Anousheh Ansari – and their journey to the stars.

“I was just captivated by their experiences and that simple human connection to our planet from above,” Eliza told collectSPACE in an interview. “And what it’s like to look out the window of the International Space Station and just how human space travel becomes.”

The captivating ten minute documentary is told through in-depth interviews with the astronauts, which are interspersed with historic archival footage and awe-inspiring imagery of space exploration. This short film brings to life the stories of women “who defied expectations, set records, and pioneered space travel.”
