Today, March 8th is International Women’s Day 2014, a time when the world recognizes women, our achievements, and the importance of standing up for our rights.

As we firmly believe that the brave girls of today will be the Women You Should Know of tomorrow, in honor of #IWD2014, we’re sharing this rousing short film (6 minutes) from A World At School. It shows the story of girls battling for the right to become educated women and reach their full potential.

“Education is a light. It’s a lamp which makes humans human. Without it we’re nothing.”

Narrated in part with the powerful words of the bravest of the brave girls Malala Yousafzai, the film also tells the story of Shazia, one of Malala’s friends who was shot by the Taliban on that same school bus on October 9, 2012.

These are girls undeterred by bullets, hatred, violence, ignorance, and fear, who prove that an education is absolutely worth fighting for.

Watch and be inspired.
