Released last week in honor of Veterans Day 2013, this video features Jim Wolf, a U.S. Army veteran who has struggled with poverty, homelessness and alcoholism for decades. The captivating, three minute timelapse shows Jim as he undergoes an incredible outward transformation in the hopes of changing his life. When he sees himself in the mirror for the first time, the look on his face is priceless.
The video was produced by community event organizer Rob Bliss with support from Degage Ministries, a nonprofit group that helps homeless veterans and others.
Since being published on November 6th, the polarizing viral video has already received over 10,000,000 views. Some see the video as hopeful, acknowledging how feeling good on the outside can help you feel good on the inside, while others have criticized it for being too superficial, implying that a good suit, a clean shave, and a haircut are all you need to get back on your feet.
