Amanda Dubin and Kelly Meyer, two “baby obsessed” neonatal ICU nurses who share a common passion for helping others and making a difference, have launched Luc&Lou, a baby onesie company that supports families in need.

Inspired by the simple words “one for me & one for you,” Luc&Lou donates a onesie for every one purchased, and supports a variety of local nonprofits that benefit low-income families with newborns in and around Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where the duo is based.

“More than 16 million children in the United States live in families with income below the federal poverty level. Witnessing the daily struggles these families face in order to provide the basics for their newborn babies, we have committed ourselves to helping underprivileged infants have an easier start to life,” the entreprenurses explain.

“The babies in the NICU have given us the greatest gift. They taught us how to believe in miracles. They showed us how to be strong, when being strong was the only option.”

The colleagues, who are also best friends, began making footprint crafts for the families of the babies they were aiding, so when it came time to create a motif for the onesie collection, they chose to incorporate the footprints of infants that they cared for in the NICU into all of their designs.

The $15.95 white onesies, sized newborn to 12 months, feature five unique images, including a sun, a football, a purple butterfly, one with the word love and a bumblebee.

“The babies in the NICU have given us the greatest gift. They taught us how to believe in miracles. They showed us how to be strong, when being strong was the only option. They are so small, yet have a determination that is larger than life itself. They have filled our hearts with so much love and joy. They are the reason we give back.”

Amanda and Kelly have plans to continue being NICU nurses, and they hope to grow Luc&Lou so they can help babies all over the world. As they say… “Let’s make LOVE contagious!”
