This week is the 68th United Nations General Assembly. As global leaders meet, UN Women, the agency that leads the UN’s efforts towards women’s empowerment and gender equality, is calling on leaders for inclusion of and investment in women’s rights and gender equality in order to bring transformative change in women’s lives.
In order to achieve these goals on a global scale, UN Women announced yesterday the launch of Knowledge Gateway for Women’s Economic Empowerment, an online “one-stop service” for resources, advocacy, innovation, partnerships and collaboration to advance women’s economic empowerment.
The mission of the interactive program is to offer a user-friendly, demand-driven community where you can find and share resources and tools for women’s economic empowerment and connect with experts, peers, networks and potential partners.
Knowledge Gateway for Women’s Economic Empowerment aims to create a cross-collaboration network between young women and girls and advanced experts and professionals and enhance young women and girls’ capacity to drive innovation for a better world.
UN Women was created by the United Nations General Assembly in 2010 to accelerate progress on gender equality and the empowerment of women. Over the last few years, it has achieved results for women and girls everywhere by supporting efforts to end violence against them, bringing them to the center of peacebuilding and advancing their political participation and leadership.
Along with the launch of the new, innovative resource, UN Women also released this video, it’s pretty simple – financially knowledgeable women make better decisions for themselves and their families, increasing their economic security and the economic security of their entire community.
