“I was asleep before. When they didn’t date us because of feminism, we didn’t wake up. They ruined Ghostbusters, and we didn’t wake up then either. And when they were being shrill bitches 24-7, we didn’t wake up. And now we are Handmen.”
Now, only on dudehulu, The Handman’s Tale is the story of Manfred, “a man just trying to survive in a world under the harsh rule of the feminazi.” Of the new brotastic series, theredpill raves, “Finally, a show for men,” while the returnofkings.com forebodingly warns, “If you’re a men’s rights activist, you’ll be shaken to your strong, masculine core.”
As if our parenthetical – (it’s a parody) – subtitle wasn’t enough of a clue, let us be very clear about what this is… a brilliantly crafted joke from the folks at Funny or Die to show how some men – the misguided, the misinformed, the mistaken, and the misogynistic – view feminists, feminism, equality, and, well, women. A spoof on the TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, it puts the “plight” of the man-child in perfect perspective.
And while we typically steer clear of the comments on YouTube, this one jumped out at us for its frank articulation of the point being made… the point that’s clearly flying right over some inflated handman heads.
